Geraldine M. (Brown) McIntyre Obituary
Our much loved Jeri was born March 6, 1935 to parents Maud and Elmer Brown. She grew up in Folsom, LA with her adoring parents. She had a lovely childhood with her sweet parents and was at home until her marriage.
She married her beloved husband of 65 years, Archie Neal McIntyre, after they met at a local Eastern Star dance event. Dr. McIntyre was just finishing medical school at the time. They would finish his residency after which Dr. McIntyre went into the Air Force and they traveled together to his assignments during that time. After his militry service they settled back in Houma where they set up a thriving general practice.
Jeri and Neal had one child, a son Kevin, who was born in 1956 making for their very close little family. Dr. McIntyre worked endlessly building his practice and Jeri was a homemaker and mom extrodinaire. The family traveled often and always together. They would go to new cities for adventure or simply go to the LSU football games which they NEVER missed any of whether at home or away games. The family were all devoted Tiger fans but none of them more than Jeri, having given more than one referee the "what what" over what she thought was a poor call.
Life was grand in Houma but they had other ambitions. Dr. McIntyre went back to medical school for advance specialty study after which they moved to New Orleans where they again started a new radiation oncology practice. They all so loved living in New Orleans with it's grand sense of style and culture. Life here was also simply grand. Jeri and Neal stayed in New Orleans where they retired and eventually after hurricane Katrina they decided to move to Austin Texas where her son Kevin lived and they began another grand adventure.
These past 15 years Jeri and Dr. McIntyre have lived here in Austin near Kevin and his wife Victoria. They have all shared endless family meals, holidays, travels and Jeri's all time favorite, fine dining at elegant restaurants. Jeri adored dining out.
There is no way for us to tell others how kind and thoughtful and full of grace that Jeri was. All who knew her know this truth. There is also no way to share our sorrow of no longer having her with us, the whole it leaves is vast. We are so grateful to have the thousands of memories that will live in our hearts and be a lovely comfort in her stead. Man oh man Jeri, we are sure going to miss you.
