Tony-Wendy Spalding wrote a sympathy message

“I knew Chief Gladek when I was a young airman at Bergstrom from 1974 - 76. He was an excellent leader, mentor and role model. Paul is the very epitome of a Senior NCO. Though I didn't serve with him a long time, his legacy lived in me through my 28 year Air Force career. That is the man Paul was, he built men from boys, he inspired others to serve this great Air Force and Nation. My condolences to the family. Chief you have now slipped the bonds of earth and are in the arms of out Lord.”
