He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter R. Long, Sr. and Reba Cundiff Long; his brother Walter R. Long, Jr. (Carolyn Waller Long); and his wife Teresa Lozano Long. He is survived by: his niece Lyndal Wiatrek (Edwin); his nephews, Walter R. Long, III (Carolyn) and Mitchell A. Long (Lu Ann); and his children, Gael, Alan, Aranza, Vivian and Brian Piper. He is also survived by cousins and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home (5416 Parkcrest Dr, Austin, TX 78731). A prayer will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery (14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660).
In lieu of flowers, Joe requests donations be made to The Long Center, Caritas of Austin, Safe Alliance of Austin, Texas Interscholastic League Foundation, any legal aid program, or any other charity of the donor's choice.
