He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius M., Jr. and Helen Rule (Ransom); his former wife Marlene Rule (McGinnis); his daughter Mary Beth; and his sister Kathryn Walls (Rule).

He is survived by: his wife Darla; his sons, Jay (Aileen) and Mike Rule (Jenny); his stepdaughters, Karrie Dvorak (Bruce) and Krista Cole (Youcef Seddiki); his grandchildren, William, Jude, Alexis, Blake, Kate, Anna, Lina, Mikayil and Laila; and his pet Jack.
