He was predeceased by: his father Clifford H. McClaugherty; his former wives, Rose Mary Kenneson McClaugherty and Rebecca "Becky" York McClaugherty; his son Lonnie Dale McClaugherty, Jr.; his mother Gladys Mills McClaugherty; his mothers-in-law, Josephine Broughton Kenneson and Katherine "Kitty" York; his sister-in-law Patricia "Pat" LaPiana Kenneson; and his stepson Donald Leon Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Lott McClaugherty; his children, Jay Lynn McClaugherty, Kim Riley (Neil), Charles Leslie Cooper, Jr. (Dottie) and Mary Cathleen "Cathy" McClaugherty (Shak Al-Muaber); his grandsons, Jacob Henry Al-Muaber (Chinyelu) and Connor Wade Cooper; his stepgrandson Noah Smith; his stepchildren, Laren Lott (Pamela), Sherry Hurst (Lynn) and Chris Lott (Nicole); his brother Dwight McClaugherty; and his brother-in-law Henry G. Kenneson, Jr.. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Lonnie's memory to the building fund for the Family Worship Center in Elgin, Texas.
