He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Rogelio Chapa and Isabel Tello Chapa; and his brother Alvin Chapa. He is survived by: his wife Nicolasa "Nickie" Granado Chapa; his son James Chapa (Roxanne Titapas); his grandchildren, Angelica Chapa, James Alfred Chapa, Nikki Chapa and Anissa Chapa; his son Samuel Chapa (Leticia Chapa); his grandson Gabriel Alan Gomez; his son Daniel Chapa (Cliseria P. Chapa); his grandchildren, Daniel Chapa, Julian Chapa and Klarissa Castillo; and his siblings, Natividad "Dorthy" Ramirez and Joe Chapa. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
