He was predeceased by: his parents, George Horst and Beverly Horst; and his mother-in-law Mary Castañon. He is survived by: his children, Jenifer, Heather and Zachary; his wife Veronyca Castañon; his siblings, Jim, Debbie Horst, Nancy, Steve Turner, Jill Dolloff, Michael Castañon, Trey Herschap, Vivian Castañon Herschap and Valerie Castañon Wilson; his children, Marty Van Gordon, Rob Moore and Mica Castañon; and his grandchildren, Dustin, Kim Van Gordon, Jessica, Colt Maldonado, Meagan, Kenneth Lemuel, Reid, Katy Moore, Barrett Van Gordon, Javier and Lucia Castañon.

Gifts in his memory may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church Social Ministries and the Marathon Texas public library.
