He was predeceased by: his father Joe L. Lou; his brother Charles; and his girlfriend Sue Wallace. He is survived by: his son Jeff; the mother of his children Sheila Brewer; his daughter Jodi; his grandchildren, Kaelah, Hagan, Odhran, Jasper, Destry, Aydin and Isabella; and his brothers, Henry (Joan) and John (BJ). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
