He was predeceased by: his parents, Medora Jones McDonald and John Hampton McDonald; his siblings, Joanne Cain (Donald), John Hampton McDonald II (Deloris) and Betty Anthony (Tony); and his niece Deborah Anthony.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Haines McDonald; his children, Brian James McDonald (Marianne) and Ruth Ann Widner (Carl Floto); his grandchildren, Ariadne McDonald, Grace Widner and John "Jack" McDonald; his stepgrandchildren, Emily Maline, David Floto, Mariana Luker and Michael Floto; his sister-in-law Janet Haines Berry (Dick); and his nieces and nephews, John H. McDonald (Rhea), Sandy McDonald, Erin McDonald, Charissa Tyler (Steve), Donna Couch (Rex) and Ronald Cain (Karen).
