She was predeceased by: her parents, Jose Saldivar and Esther Gonzalez Saldivar; her sisters, Grace Barton and Isabel Vitek; her brothers-in-law, Lee Barton, Robert Vela and George Vitek; and her nephew John Martinez Jr..
She is survived by: her husband John Martinez; her son John Jr.; her close friends, Viola and Calvary Baptist Church; her brother Harold Welch; her grandchild Hispanic; her daughter-in-law Christi; her friend Mary Williams; her sons, Robert Martinez (Christi) and Jose Martinez (Cynthia); her sister Irma Vela; her grandchildren, Brea Martinez (Tommy Adams), Jason Martin (Jillian Blackwell), Dashiel Greene (Geoffrey), Magnolia Welker (Matthew), Samuel Martinez (Ruby), Andrah Weeks (Michael), Peter Martinez, John Tyler Martinez, Sarah Schaefer (David), Joshua Martinez (Audrey), Jordan Martinez (Hannah Gorczyca) and Matthew Martinez; her great grandchildren, Jackson, Jordan Martin, Cole, Garner, Magnolia Greene, Noah, Lillian, Eva Rose Welker, Talan Masters, Blake Martinez, Nathan, Anthony, William Weeks, River Martinez, Brooklyn Farris, Ezra and Suede Martinez; and her siblings' children, Jimmy Barton (Robin), Sara Rather and Melissa Sterns.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Primera Baptist Church (306 Paul C Bell St, Bastrop, TX 78602). During the 2020 election, in the midst of the COVID pandemic and with her health in steep decline, her daughter-in-law Christi took her to vote curbside.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the food pantry she helped create at Primera Baptist Church.Amen—and Hook 'Em Horns.
