He is survived by: his wife Terri Dulin Mitchell; his children, Kirsten N. Mitchell, Ian A. Mitchell, Trevor N. Mitchell and William R. Mitchell; and his siblings, Ginny Compton, Kelly Pechal, Anna Andrews, Pat Altenburg (Robert), Stanley Mitchell, Philip Mitchell, David Mitchell, Scott Mitchell, Paul Mitchell (Martha), Tim Mitchell (Carmen) and Denis Mitchell (Nora). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Tripoli Houston Rocket Club or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, reflecting Jon's enduring passions and his commitment to both science and community welfare.
