He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Petry and Mabel Hunley Petry; and his siblings, Gravel, Gra Robert Jr., Erastus, Ross, Roosevelt, Nona Mae and Mary Lou.
He is survived by: his children, Gay Fontenot (Hubert), Paula Dodis and Emmett Petry Jr. (Christy); his niece Carolyn Sebile; his grandchildren, Jason, Jalea Fontenot, Justice Dodis, Bethany and Emmett; and his great grandchild Kai Jefferson.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Proctor's Mortuary - Beaumont (3522 Washington Blvd, Beaumont, TX 77705).
