She was predeceased by: her parents, Mitchell Deshotel and Freddie Mae Deshotel. She is survived by: her children, Derrick Deshotel (Kesha), Derrilyn Deshotel, Peggy Wells (Michael) and Alim Lewis. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends.
She spent more than a decade at Twelve Oaks Hospital, caring for AIDS patients during the height of the AIDS pandemic.
