He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Nelson and Lillie Mae Tebo-Nelson; his siblings, Gustell Brown, Artie Mae Wildridge, Juanita Bell, Matthew Mitchell and James Earl Nelson; his son Gary Nelson; and his grandson Trey Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Vanessa Faye Nelson; his children, George Eddie Nelson Jr., Bobby Ray Nelson, Phillip Walker, Syretta Britt, Danielle Nelson and Kneco Walker; and his nephew David Mitchell.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the McBride Funeral Home (2315 S 11th St, Beaumont, TX 77701). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 2:15 PM at the Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038).
