He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosie Inez Purkes Johnson and Dewey Johnson; his former wife Mary Helen Johnson; his wife Sue Johnson; and his daughter Stephanie Rene Johnson Fertitta.

He is survived by: his son Steve Johnson (Misty Madaffri) of Beaumont; his stepson Doug Pennell of Fannett; and his siblings, Darrell Johnson (Barbara) of Conroe, Donna Myers of Fannett and Perry Johnson (Debbie) of Port Aransas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.
