He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur "Lee" Payne and Mary "Ann" Payne (Cravens); his brothers, Art "Butch" and Michael Payne; his grandmother Ora Cravens; his in-laws, Charles and Jeanell Harris; his grandfather-in-law Jeanette "Granny T" Turbeville; his brother-in-law Bob Robertson; and his nephew Travis Sloan.

He is survived by: his wife Shannon Payne of Bells; his children, Coltin Payne (Kelsey) of Bells and Addisyn Payne of Bells; his granddaughters, Abigail, Madilyn and Josie Payne of Bells; his siblings, Linda Robertson of Sherman, Lisa Powers (Jerry) of Denison, Dana Cassell (Cecil) of Denison, Ellen Carter (Tommy) of Bells and Mark Payne (Vannessa) of Luella; his siblings-in-law, Tammy Wells of Bells, Juli Payne of Denison, Martha Payne of Sherman and Terry Harris (Debbie) of Commerce; and his pet Pete. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews, 22 great-nieces and great-nephews, one great, great nephew, several friends.
