We announce the death of Joan Ann Bronkema of Bells, Texas, born in Providence, Rhode Island, who passed away on August 9, 2026, at the age of 86. Joan Ann will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her husband John Bronkema; her foster mother Rose Nestor; her daughter Teresa Rose Kennedy; and her siblings, Joseph Rainville and Terry Roy.
She is survived by: her children, John Bronkema (Tammy), Tony Bronkema (Jennifer), Ray Bronkema (Kimberley), Robert Johnston (Cristian Vargas) and Donna Smith (David); her son-in-law John Kennedy; her grandchildren, Kade, Skip, Sean Kennedy, Dustin Bronkema (Brandy), Mandy Rector (Scott), Anthony Bronkema (Becca), Olivia, Grant Bronkema, Brittney Wehrbein (Boyd), Mabel and Ella Smith; and her great grandchildren, Carson, Logan Kennedy, Grace Kennedy, Owen, Aubrey, Jackson, Hayden, Kaleb, Jolene Bronkema, Anthony, Colby, Alyssa Leonard, Paige Rector, Callista, CeCe Bronkema, Collin and Cayla Moon.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 12th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the St. Andrew Catholic Church Cemetery (270 St Andrew St, El Campo, TX 77437).
Memorials may be given to Tunnel to Towers or local homeless shelters.
