He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Cañas and Emma Cañas; and his wife Beatrice "Bea" G. Cañas. He is survived by: his children, William Cañas (Rita) of Pearland, Texas, Michael Cañas (Danell) of Deer Park, Texas, Christine Cañas of Deer Park, Texas and Melinda Lee (Craig) of La Porte, Texas; his siblings, Mary Lou Mancha, Josephine "Pep" Navarro, Emma Elva Perez, Esther Hernandez, Jesse Cañas and Joe Cañas; his grandchildren, James, Michael, Jose, Emma, Eric, Adrian, William, Alex, Alec, Justin, Devin, Andrew, Cory, Rachel, Carlie, Dana and Victoria; and his great grandchildren, Kailynn, Jayden, Jace, Scarlett, Madison, Olivia, Aria, Camila, Adylin Grace Etheredge, Kacey Ray French and Levi Cañas.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Garza Funeral Home (4571 S Farm to Market 1329, San Diego, TX 78384). A rosary was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Garza Funeral Home Chapel (4571 S Farm to Market 1329, San Diego, TX 78384).
