He was predeceased by: his parents, J. C. Johnson and Audine Reed-Johnson; and his brothers, Kenneth Dean Reed and Marvin Ray Reed. He is survived by: his siblings, Larry Joe Reed, Faye Whittle and Deborah Kerr; and his nieces and nephews, Kaci Earnest, Danette Whittle Murphy, Kenneth Reed Jr., Kevin Reed, Kendal Reed, Jarrett Reed, Shawn Whittle and John Walker.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or to the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home, in honor of the countless hours Charles gave to his fellow veterans and the loving care he received in his final years.
