James Merwin Norman Obituary
The passing of James Merwin Norman of Big Spring, Texas occurred on October 6, 2026. James Merwin, born on July 7, 1941, is remembered by those who knew him. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Joseph and Elsie Lorene Norman; his son Robert Craig Norman; Elsie Lorene Norman. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Osborn Norman; his children, Leslie (Albert Harris), James Craig Norman and Larrie (Greg Estes); his grandchildren, Brittni, John Williams, Austin Garrett Coates, Makayla Eldridge, Haley Coates, Makynsa Norman and Karleigh Norman; and his siblings, Linda Alexander (Larry) and Jimmie Norman. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the Myers & Smith Funeral Home & Chapel (301 E 24th St, Big Spring, TX 79720). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the College Baptist Church (1105 Birdwell Ln, Big Spring, TX 79720).
A special thank you to Steve and all the wonderful team members at Harris Lumber and Loyd with his team at Higginbotham for the many years of lumber, supplies and friendship that helped keep his projects going. And in keeping with his lifelong love of building, in lieu of flowers, the family encourages all those reading to make plenty of trips to your favorite hardware store in Big Spring – James certainly did his part to keep them in business over the years!!
