He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Clifford Abbott and Percilla Archibald Abbott; his brothers, Henry and Kenneth; his grandchildren, Gary Shane Wright and Megan Mary Hulse; his nephews, Rocky and Rory Payne; and his siblings-in-law, Dennis Payne and Nancy Abbott.

He is survived by: his wife Cherol Jane Davis Abbott; his children, Janette Wright (Gary), Lori Ann Herrick (James), Clifford Lee Abbott (Dana), Kent Davis Abbott (Lisa) and Mary Cherie Hulse (Jared); and his siblings, Marie Payne and Gary Abbott. He is also survived by grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (1540 S State Hwy 78, Bonham, TX 75418). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Abbott Acres Family Cemetery (1660 Co Rd 2015, Ivanhoe, TX 75447).
