He is survived by: his wife Kim Cates; his son Mathew Cates (Chelsi); his grandchildren, Tanner, Taos, Chesni, Swayzi and Steeley; his daughter Leah Terrell (Blake); his grandsons, Wyatt and Everett; his daughter Jessi Cates of Fort Worth; his brother Monty Cates; his nieces and nephews, Ty Cates (Gloria), Trew Cates (Drew), Cassidy Cates Ricke (Tyler) and Maddie Cates Thompson (Hadley); his sister Robin Cates Friskup (Steve); and his nieces, Kaci Morris (Justin) and Kelsy Ratliff (Jake).
