He was predeceased by : his parents, Pearlie Douglas Mullins and James Robert Mullins Sr.; and his siblings, Ruth Brown, Rae Young, Maurine Mays, James Mullins Jr., Artie Mullins, Eugenia Springer, Leo D. Mullins and Doris Johnson.

He is survived by : his son Timothy Wayne Mullins of Dallas, Texas..
