He was predeceased by: his parents, Fritz Henry Rau, Jr. and Florence Klingsporn Rau; and his in-laws, Lawrence and Elvera Schmidt (Tuty). He is survived by: his wife Janice Schmidt Rau; his son Dane; his daughter-in-law Melonie Rau; his daughter Stacy; his son-in-law Trey Hardy; his grandchildren, Jenna Hardy, Leah Hardy, Luke Hardy, Kade Rau, Brady Rau and Nate Rau; his siblings-in-law, Delbert, Peggy Schmidt, Roy and Carol Schmidt; and his cousin William Klingsporn. He is also survived by three nieces, one nephew, and many Rau family cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Memorial Oaks Chapel (1306 W Main St, Brenham, TX 77833). A funeral service was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church (1800 Farm to Market Rd 2679, Brenham, TX 77833). A burial was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at the Prairie Lea Cemetery (1004 Prairie Lea St, Brenham, TX 77833).
