He was predeceased by: his parents, John Read and Irene Pike; his wife Bobbie J. Martin; his daughter Debora; and his granddaughter Toni.

He is survived by: his sons, Bud Read (Sheila) of Paradise and Barry Read of Dallas; his grandchildren, Eric Harris of Paradise, Russell Read (Jennifer) of Whiskey Flats and Trisha Thompson (Chad) of Paradise; and his sister Patsy McClure.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hawkins Funeral Home (1909 9th St, Bridgeport, TX 76426). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Cottondale (145 Co Rd 3355, Paradise, TX 76073).

The family welcomes donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
