He was predeceased by : his grandfather Thorndike Dudley Howe III; and his aunts and uncles, Vicki Lynn Mayo, Pam Laney, Mark Evan Blair, Buddy Mansfield and Langdon Dearborn.

He is survived by : his parents, Justus Mark Chaney and Phyllis Hayden Howe-Chaney of Brookshire, TX; his siblings, Christopher Mark Chaney, Jerome Johnson and Rebecca Hayden Chaney; his grandmothers, Sue Baker-Howe and Marilyn Howe-Oliva; his uncles, Thorndike Dudley Howe IV (Sylvia Coltrain-Howe) and Paul "Stormy" Mayo; and his aunt Sandy Blair-Mansfield. He is also survived by numerous other uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, extended family and loving friends.

In lieu of flowers the family has established a scholarship fund to Ranch House Recovery in Elgin, TX in Cory's honor to help another family that may not otherwise have the means to save a loved one.
