She was predeceased by: her mother Adeline May Brown Defenbach; and her stepfather James Defenbach. She is survived by: her husband Michael Stanley; her family Michael; her son Dr. Jay Michael Stanley; her daughter-in-law Katie; her grandchildren, Zachary and Sarah; and her friends, Javier Garza, Petra Torres and Cindy Sipes.

“I met Dawn at Lopez HS in the early 90's (we shared a class) and she impacted everyone she met with her smile & joyful attitude. I am saddened to hear of her passing, but I know that she displayed the fruits of the Spirit that only come from knowing her Creator. I look forward to seeing her in Heaven some day and pray that her family is comforted in this time of mourning. She made everyone feel loved and welcomed in her classroom.
