He was predeceased by: his parents, Blas Chavez and Paula Chavez; his brothers, Blas Chavez Jr. and Juan P. Chavez; and his daughter-in-law Amanda Chavez.

He is survived by: his wife Alicia Chavez; his children, Lorraine Garza (Nicolas), Rogelio Chavez Jr. (Kathleen), Fabian Chavez (Vida) and Andres Chavez (Brenda); his grandchildren, Nicole Garza, Lauren Garza, Diego Garza, Ashlyn Chavez, Alyson Chavez, Arielle Chavez, Brandy Chavez, Achilles Varela and Lexander Varela; and his sisters, Josie Chavez and Margie Martinez. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in- laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
