Tobby Mitchell Obituary
Tobby Ray Mitchell, age 67, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Brownwood, TX after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Muffley Funeral Home, 1430 Thornton Street. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at House High School, 309 N. Apple St, House, NM, in the Multi-Purpose Room. Pastor Danny Sanders will be officiating the funeral. Burial to follow at House Cemetery in House, NM. Cooper Mitchell, Eddie Riley, Kenny Whitecotton, Wendell Belcher, Billy Weese, and Tyson Henry will serve as pallbearers. Cohen Mitchell, Tuff Pinnell, Tom Mackechnie, Mike Mackechnie, Ronnie Mackechnie, Eric Rush, Clifford Rogers, and Ernest Riley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Tobby was born on July 17, 1959, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, to Troyce Ray Mitchell and Donna Fay Watson. A cowboy at heart, Tobby loved working on the ranch in his younger years. He was proud to follow in his father's footsteps as a barber.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church. A devoted Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He enjoyed rodeo, something he watched to the end with his son, Cooper.
As the oldest of his siblings, he naturally embraced the role of big brother. Above all, Tobby will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and his ability to bring joy and laughter to everyone around him.
Tobby is preceded in death by his parents; Troyce Ray Mitchell and Donna Fay Watson.
Tobby is survived by his two children; Quinn (Ron) Horn of Gilbert, AZ, Cooper (Mary) Mitchell of Brownwood, TX, Arlie Mitchell of Melrose, NM, two brothers; Bryan (Jennifer) Mitchell of Plainview, TX, Miles (Stacy) Mitchell of Albuquerque, NM, sister; Brenda Bullen of Edgewood, NM, grandchildren; Reagan, Cohen, and Addison, and along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
