He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Canatella and Minnie Canatella (Vasta); and his siblings, Gus, Joe, Charlie, Luke Canatella, Josephine Gargano, Bonnie Canatella, Mary Turner, Carrie Marino and Willie Mae Licce.

He is survived by: his wife Jane Ann; his son Rick; his daughter-in-law Tonya Canatella; his daughter Janice; his son-in-law Randy Blum; his grandchildren, Amanda Blum of Bryan, Clayton Blum of Bryan, Joseph Anthony Canatella of Bryan and Austin Canatella of Bryan; his brother Sam Canatella (Bernice) of Navasota; and his siblings-in-law, Buddy and Mary Frances Zemanek of Bryan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
