He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernhard J. Benn and Esther J. Benn (Albrecht); and his granddaughter Emily Tydlacka. He is survived by: his brother Dennis Benn; his stepson James Tydlacka; his wife Beverly; his siblings, Daryl Benn and Amy Forciea (Pat); and his children, Justin Benn (Madison), Benji Benn (Kimberly), Trista Benn (Daren Dregney), Joshua Benn (Melissa), Jesse Benn, Jordan Benn (Kay Kimmell), Stacey Nichols, Mark Tydlacka (Angela) and Andrew Tydlacka (Rachel). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
