He was predeceased by: his parents, George E. Sr. Pauling and Rosella Woodland Pauling; his brothers, George Pauling Jr. and James Pauling; and his stepgrandson Clint Werth.
He is survived by: his wife Vonnie Pauling; his children, Connie (Cash Reed), Carol Pauling, Mark Skinner (Melissa Pauling) and Amy (Don Werth); his grandchildren, Jasmine Reed (Tom Dobson), Lane Reed, Cassie Reed (Ahmed Butt), Taylor Loehr, Matthew Loehr and Steven Pauling; his stepgrandsons, Ross Gibson, Aaron Gibson, Harley Hamilton and Dustin Werth; and his sister Janette Fairman. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces; many other relatives and close friends.
