He was predeceased by: his parents, Margie Swartzlander (Wazelle) and Frank J. Swartzlander; and his siblings, Darlene Nelson, Richard and Raymond Swartzlander.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Ann Brinkmeyer; his children, Gwen Engel of Bryan, Gayle Groves (Jason) of Perth, Australia and Dean Swartzlander (Tina) of Bryan, Texas; his grandchildren, Brooke Madkins (Darian), Lynsey Engel of Bryan, Elissa, Sophia Groves of Perth, Regan and Lauren Swartzlander of Bryan, Texas; and his great grandchildren, D. J. and Amara Madkins of Bryan, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
