He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Francis Schwind Jr. and Mary Rose Klug; his wife Sandra Ruth Stephens; his children, Ruth Ann Schwind Sullivan (Scott), Kaitlyn, Brynne and Edward Charles Schwind Jr. (Wendy); his grandchild Emmalee; his daughters, Sarah Schwind and Julia Schwind Truss (Jeff); his grandchildren, Natalie, Isaac and Austin; his son Stephen Schwind (Ashley); his grandson Dalton; and his siblings, Julia Vecera, Catherine Meyer, Patricia Rose, Francis Schwind and Marian Stillman. He was also cherished by his extended family and numerous friends.
