John Mark Alvis Sr. Obituary

We bid farewell to John Mark Alvis Sr. (Bryan, Texas), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on April 21, 2024 at the age of 86. John Mark touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. In bidding John Mark adieu, let us not mourn the silence that now fills the spaces John Mark once occupied, but rather celebrate the vibrant colors he painted upon the canvas of our lives. For while he may have departed from this earthly realm, his spirit remains a beacon of light, guiding us through the darkest of nights.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Mary Alvis and Thomas Alvis. He is survived by : his wife Elsie R. Alvis; his sons, John M. Alvis Jr. (Nancy) and William T. Alvis (Brooke); and his grandchildren, Darin, Abbey and Kira.

“If Mark struck you as being one of the good guys, you got him right. Like some who read this, I have known Mark since we met under strenuous circumstances in 1956. He was genuinely helpful to others, always willing to extend a hand. Any group that included Mark was a better group, any group that lost him was sorely diminished. Today, we as a group of established friends are less, and not just numerically, but in every way I can think of. We will miss Mark Alvis from our ranks. Gary Todd '60”
