She was predeceased by: her husband Arthur Borgfeld; her parents, Ervin Robert Parkhurst and Cora Kathleen Parkhurst; and her brothers, Robert Parkhurst and Daniel Parkhurst.

She is survived by: her sons, Mark Borgfeld (Joyce) and Adam Borgfeld (Stacy); her sisters, Kay Corey (Jimmy Gonzalez), Kathy Corey (Bob) and Kerri Cleary (Patrick); her grandchildren, Blake Borgfeld (McKenna), Emily Borgfeld, Cody Borgfeld and Ryan Kinsey; and her sister-in-law Jo Parkhurst. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorials in Karen's name may be made to the New Berlin Volunteer Fire Department or to Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek.
