He was predeceased by: his wife Bernice Pry; his parents, Minne Canatella and Charlie Canatella; and his siblings, Anthony, Charlie, Joe, Gus, Luke Canatella, Josephine Gargano, Bonnie Canatella, Mary Turner, Carrie Marino and Willie Mae Licee.
He is survived by: his son Sam Jr.; his daughter-in-law Tammy; his granddaughters, Taylor and Miranda; and his great grandchildren, MacKenzie and Linda Lou.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 20th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home (815 S Lasalle St, Navasota, TX 77868). A rosary was held on Thursday, August 20th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, August 21st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Christ Our Light Catholic Church (9677 Hwy 6, Navasota, TX 77868). A burial was held on Friday, August 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland Cemetery (801 6th St, Navasota, TX 77868).
