He was predeceased by: his parents, Verner Phillips and Alice Phillips (Morrison); his wife Melinda Phillips (Simmons); his son Walter Phillips; and his brothers, Paul Phillips and Dwight Phillips.
He is survived by: his daughters, Carolyn Tyler (Douglas) of Sachse and Elise Wines of Pierre; his grandchildren, Kristin Clark (Tyler), Kaitlin Tyler, Kolbie Tyler, Korbin Tyler (Shelby), Christopher Phillips, Jonathon Stroud and Deborah Wines; his great grandchildren, Hudson and Lincoln Clark; his brother Myron "Phil" Phillips of Haslet; his sister-in-law Vicki Phillips of Houston; his former wife Brita Phillips of Pierre; and his pet Liberty Belle. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many special friends.
