He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Carroll and Ophelia Carroll (Jewel Carroll); his son Roy Carroll; his great grandchild Journee Griggs; and his siblings, Richard Dell Carroll, James Earl Carroll Sr., Lee Marion Carroll, Malvin Carroll, Jerline Robinson, Gladys Manuel, Ruthie Mae Rivers and Edna Wright.
He is survived by: his spouse Jewel Manuel; his daughters, Pearl Tyrone, Gwen Jackson, Jackie Gaines and Janice Carroll; and his sisters, Rubye Middleton, Dorothy Spencer and Teresa Sims. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
