We announce the death of Joseph Presiliano Baca Martinez (Canyon, Texas), who passed away on July 7, 2026, at the age of 35. Joseph will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Jose, Agnes Baca and Presiliano Martinez. He is survived by: his parents, Andrew Martinez and Teresa Martinez (Baca) of Amarillo; his wife Tamara Martinez; his sons, Gabriel and Asher Martinez; his brothers, Ricardo Martinez (Sarah-Kate) of Amarillo and Armando Martinez (Courtney) of Madelia, Minnesota; his grandmother Ida Martinez of Stockton, California; his parents-in-law, Tim and Michelle Whitaker of Canyon; and his brother-in-law Chance Whitaker of Canyon. He is also survived by eight nephews, two nieces, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Martinez Children's Education Fund at Amarillo National Bank or the Canyon Fire Fighter Association, P.O. Box 98, Canyon, Texas 79015.
