Thad left this world on July 26, 2025 at the age of 79, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Melba Louise Ponder and Ernest William "E. W." Mills, Sr.; his brothers, Elbert and Ernest Mills, Jr.; and his granddaughter Brandi Mills.
He is survived by: his children, Timothy Mills (Stephanie) of Marshall, Celeste Lewis (Bubba) of Joaquin and Deidra Clark (Tommy) of Evadale; his siblings, Cecil "Cowboy" Mills (Virginia) of Texas City, Shirley Smith (Paul) of Braodus and Beverly Rains (Ewel) of Carthage; and his grandchildren, Heather, T. J., Josh Swift, Amanda Kirby, Justin Lewis, Chip, Brandon, Amanda Lovell, Taylor Mills and Devon Webb.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel (307 W Wellington St, Carthage, TX 75633). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Liberty Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery (1289 TX-147, San Augustine, TX 75972).
