James Wayne Phelps Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Wayne Phelps (Chilton, Texas), who passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernhard Phelps and Lovie Crosby Phelps; his brother Alvin; and his siblings-in-law, Annie Bell Phelps, Winston and Shirley Jones.

He is survived by: his wife Katherine Ann Jones; his sons, James Mark and David Winston (Shelly); his grandchildren, Casey Ann Phelps (Dustin Kahanek), Britney Lynn Cheyne (Dennis) and Dustin Wayne Phelps (Courtney); his great grandchildren, Cailynn, Denton, Dustin Wesley, Tripp, Lesley, Zayden, Weston and Gracey; his siblings-in-law, Mary Jane and Carroll Huber; and his nieces and nephews, Barbara Robinson, Brenda Pick, Randy Phelps, James Jones and Matthew Huber. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins in his extended family.
