He was predeceased by: his parents, Dexter McDowell and Beatrice McDowell; his wife Donna Raye McDowell; and his siblings, Randy Walter McDowell, James McDowell and Doris Piles.
He is survived by: his sons, Donald Lee McDowell and Melvin Douglas Carney; and his grandchildren, Marlee Carney, Dalton Carney and Dillon Carney.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the American Legion in Universal City.
