Gerald M. Davis Obituary

Gerald Martin Davis of Cisco, Tx passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, 2026. Services will be held at1:00 p.m. Friday, July 24th, at Corinth Baptist Church with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery officiated by Marvin Baucom.

Gerald was born on December 8, 1933 at the home place of his maternal grandparents along the banks of the Leon River Eastland County, Texas to Samuel Andrew Davis, Jr. and Ells Marhrea Carlisle.

Gerald attended school in Cisco and Eastland, TX. While attending, Cisco High School, he spotted a beautiful young lady sitting reading a book and said "that is the girl I'm going to marry". After graduating from Eastland High School, Gerald enrolled at Cisco Jr. College and while there, he reconnected with the love of his life, Venita Wylleene Bint. On July 3, 1953, Gerald and Wylleene united in marriage and spent a lifetime together until her passing in 2007.

Gerald was inducted into the Army in 1953 serving as an MP with Company "B" 9th Ordinance Battalion stationed in Germany. After his service in the Army, he began his 25-year career in the oilfield working for Halliburton Services. In 1981, Gerald and Wylleene moved back to Cisco and built a life on the farm raising cattle, goats and pigs. Gerald was an extremely dedicated, respected and hard worker doing anything for anyone if he could. His greatest joy was his 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild with one on the way.

Gerald was predeceased by his loving wife, Wylleene, his only son Rusty Davis, grandson Coby Slaughter, his parents S.A. and Ella Marhrea Davis, sisters Venita Marlene Smith, (brother-in-law Roy B Smith), Yvonnia (Bonnie) Hollis, mother-in-law Venita Marie Kurklin, sister-in-law Evelyn (Nub) Mabry.

Left to cherish him are his daughters Deborah Davis of Wink, TX, Kaye Hays (Jimmy) of Abilene, Tx, Julie Flores (Danny) of Victoria, Tx, his brother, June Davis (Sharon) of Cisco, Tx his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great children as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would also like to thank Solaris Hospice nurses and aides, Dr. Robert Deluca, Dr. Anton Melnyk of TX Oncology and Dr. Samuel Maroney for the care given to our dad over the years.

Pallbearers will be Danny Hays, Kevin Hays, Tanner Jones, Tommy Bint, Wayne Davis and Don Mabry. Honorary Pallbearers - Grayson Hays, Joseph Granado and Ethan Sullivan.
