He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Doty and Carleton Doty (Alexander); his wife Dorothy "Dot" Doty (Kinman); his daughter Delia Cogburn; and his siblings, Bubba Doty, Delores Jones and Wanda Knight.
He is survived by: his children, Kerry Doty, Matthew Doty (Elena Pitano), Joseph Doty (Melanie) and Nancy York; his grandchildren, Matthew Doty, Jr. (Christopher Doty), Margie Winans, Amy Winans, Kourtney Pena, Jordan West, Carly Doty, Abigail Doty and Emily Doty; his great grandchildren, Kaydence Lowry, Christopher Winans, Andrew Winans, Shelby Winans, Jayden Winans, Elena Pena and Luella Pena; and his siblings, Wyndolyn Doty, Allen Doty and Addie Mae Reasoner. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Jimmy devoted 36 remarkable years of his professional life to General Dynamics, where he forged many lasting friendships and made significant contributions to the organization.
