He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Mize and Geneva Crippens Mize; and his siblings, Donald Mize, Linda Mize and Betty Gilbert.

He is survived by: his wife Kay Mize; his children, Krissy White (Joey Poland), Larry Mize (Lisa Johnson), Melvin Tubbs and Mark Tubbs (Christie Howard); his grandchildren, Kolten, Katelyn, Autumn, Nathan, Joshua, Klayten, Anicia and Morgan; and his great grandchildren, Brentlee, Landen, Klark, Kent, Haydyn, Paytyn, Delilah, Nymeria and Seraphina.
