He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Hulen Aars and Velma Manske Aars; his wife Barbara Heid Aars; his sons, Harold and Kevin Kuisel; his niece Stacey Pantuck; and his nephew Jay Smith. He was also cherished by four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous extended family.

Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bosque Museum, or the Bosque Arts Center.
