He was predeceased by: his parents, Mattie Harmon Cato and Elby P. Lois; his daughter Amber Watts; his son-in-law Mark Robertson; and his brothers, Valton Cato, Billy Don Cato and Gary Cato.

He is survived by: his wife Beth Elaine Kniffen of Clyde; his children, Glenda Robertson of Greenfield, Missouri and Terry Cato (Chari) of Perrin, Texas; and his siblings, Mike Cato (Chiggy) of Tow, Texas, LaJoy Goyne of Abilene, Jo Harmon of Springtown and Sylvia Bright of Abilene.
