He is survived by: his wife Imogene Fleming Kniffen; and his children, Rita (Michael Hale), David (Jo Ellen Kniffen), Keith (Sandra Kniffen) and Wendy (Nate Tinkle). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
