He was predeceased by: his wife Stephanie Colunga (Swafford); his parents, Jose "Joe" Colunga Jr. and Margaret Colunga (Harrison); his brothers, Alfred Colunga and David Colunga; his sister-in-law Velia Colunga; his sister Gloria Farroba (Colunga); and his brothers-in-law, John L. Farroba and William Freisinger.
He is survived by: his children, Kim Chavarria (Louis "Mike" Chavarria) and Daniel Craig Colunga (Julie); his grandchildren, Hannah, Naomi, Daniel, Elizabeth and David Chavarria; his siblings, Gilbert Colunga, Joe Colunga III (Judy Colunga), Margaret Friesinger (Colunga) and Lorenzo Colunga (Jonna); his brother-in-law William E. Swafford (Mary Ann); and his siblings' children, Joe Gilbert Colunga, Joe David Colunga, James Colunga, John Colunga, John Manuel Farroba, Erik Freisinger, Stephen Colunga, Joe Colunga IV, Dennis Colunga, Sonia Villareal, Christy Colunga, Katherine D. Farroba, Suzette Deckert (Farroba), Ava Jana Flores (Farroba), Judi Adams, Karyn Givens (Freisinger), Lora Moore (Freisinger), Regina Blackmore (Colunga), Kristan Swafford and Rochelle Swafford Carnes.
